Inmate from El Dorado County walks away from Northern California conservation camp

PAYNES CREEK – Authorities are searching for an inmate who walked away from a Northern California conservation camp on Thursday.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said Antonio Munoz was missing from a head county at the Ishi Conservation Camp in Paynes Creek around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. 

The CDCR said Munoz was received from El Dorado County on Dec. 28, 2022, after he was sentenced to 15 years for first-degree robbery in concert/inhabited dwelling. 

The 36-year-old was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, white and black tennis shoes and a white thermal long-sleeve shirt. He is about 6 feet, 200 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who sees Munoz is urged to call 911. 

The Ishi Conservation Camp is operated by the CDCR and Cal Fire to provide incarcerated fire crews across Tehama, Glenn, Shasta and Plumas counties. It's located about 26 miles east of Red Bluff in Tehama County.
