Jill Pizzotti officially introduced as DePaul women's basketball coach
After taking over the reins of the DePaul Blue Demons women's basketball program a couple of weeks ago, promoted head coach Jill Pizzotti was formally introduced Tuesday at Wintrust Arena.
Pizzotti replaced Doug Bruno, who stepped down after 39 years in Lincoln Park.
Pizzotti knows she has some big sneakers to fill, but she plans on following in the footsteps of her legendary boss.
"I came to work for Doug, and he has built an unbelievable foundation. That doesn't even say enough, you know, that he built a foundation," she said. "It's incredible what he's built here, and take that job very serious to get us back going in the Big East championships, and getting back in the NCAA Tournament."
Pizzotti was named head women's basketball coach at DePaul this month after serving on the staff for 14 seasons — including 11 as associate head coach. She stepped in as interim head coach for the 2024-2025 season.
"She has a great knowledge of basketball. She understands the game and knows the game," said Bruno. "But more importantly, she has a great ability to relate to players, and that's what this job is really all about."
Pizzotti is a graduate of Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, and was also the second-winningest head women's basketball coach in St. Louis University history from 1995 to 2005.
